Some local places of interest

This region, known as the Quercy Blanc is a great area to explore the sights and flavours of la France profonde.

La Borde Neuve is about 16 km from Cahors, the provincial capital of the Lot, and a short drive from the bustling medieval village of Montcuq.  The river Lot is just to the North of us, and to the South and West are the picturesque historic bastide towns of Castelnau Montratier and Lauzerte. There is a market somewhere nearby almost every day of the week, as well as village fêtes and "soirées gourmandes" throughout the summer. There is a wide choice of restaurants which range from Michelin starred to those with a simple, but delicious, set menu lunch for around 15 euros.

Vineyards are everywhere and in most you can sample their wine.  The scenery is beautiful (the area is sometimes referred to as the French Tuscany), and the wildlife is abundant, with exceptional orchids in the springtime.  Our house is a short walk from the Chemin de Saint-Jacques de Compostelle and it is a superb area for walking, cycling or touring on motorbikes.  Canoeing is available on the river Lot and there is an equestrian centre just up the road.  Our local golf course, Golf des Roucous is a short drive away.  If you have any particular areas of interest, let us know and we will do what we can to help you find out more.
